The Kempferhof extends over 6024 meters, with a slope of 145. It offers the possibility to apply and use all variances of Golf techniques. For a better introduction it is advisable to start with the second 9 which are wider and more open. Prior warm-up at the driving range is recommended, and then ….off you go to Tee No. 1.
The impression of wideness is misleading. To play with precision is the first priority, you must master your short game to obtain good results on this course. On the first 9 holes, you will be impressed by the beauty of holes 7 and 9, but do not loos your concentration on the second 9 which are equally beautiful. There is hole number 14 with 150 meters of water from Tee to green. And there is like on every course, the grand finale, hole number 18. With the castle, the pond, and the doublegreen in sight. After such a round you can get back to the clubhouse and give in to your emotions.
But who is better qualified , than the pros, to judge a course
Guide Peugeot 2008, the Michelin of the Golfsport, ranks the Kempferhof with 18/20 as the second most beautiful course in France and comments as follows :
This Course is seducing at the first glance. The image of care and love for the smallest detail is confirmed again and again on this exceptional course. Embedded in and adapted to the unusual landscape amongst beech. birch and fire trees. It is not easy to reach your handicap on this course, but this walkable course is manageable for all players with a little experience. Beginners could be intimidated by some of the large water obstacles. This course demands very careful work with the ball and control over all your clubs. The short and approach game is decisive. And this course does not hide its difficulties, all are well visible. In the tradition of Bob von Haage it is a rolling terrain, without intruding into nature.
Success on a high level, and the atmosphere of the hotel rooms, is one more reason to come and visit this wonderful region.
Jan Van de Velde :“Looking at it from the second 9, this course could appear inhuman. But it is at the reach of most players.” _
Bernhard Langer : “There is plenty of water. It is a delight to play on such a well maintained course”._
Bob Van Hagge :“From the first contact I had understood, that it was our task to create a real masterpiece, recognized in all of Europe”.
Bob van Haage has also designed the courses in Borne, Seignosse, Le Royal Mougin, le Golf National.
